Vanguard West Suburban Medical Center hosted Heart Fest 2012, where their doctors and medical professionals were on hand to inform the community about cardiovascular health. Resources available included lectures, blood pressure checks, cholesterol and glucose screening and more. The overall goal was to inform the public about the cardiovascular health and how to prevent it.

Empty Bowls Community Dinner to Support the Pantry

The Annual Empty Bowls Community Dinner will be held on February 24, 2012 from 6-8 p.m at Oak Park River and Forest High School. Bowls made by student and local potters will be sold for $15 ($10 for students) and will be filled with soup donated by local restaurants and businesses. Empty Bowls raises money for Global Alliance for Africa, PADS, and Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry. All funds go directly to support these organizations. Please support this Community effort for hunger relief.

For many years now the last weekend of February has been a time when the extended First Baptist family marks the end of Black History month with a celebration of Black Gospel Music. In the past our Gospel Fest has included artists of local, national and even international renown. We have also enjoyed the contribution of choirs from sister churches, some traveling from as far as Mississippi!
