In this version, a vain and gullible Empress (played by Gina Sigismondi) is always demanding new clothes and keeps raising the taxes of the poor villagers to pay for them. Two village men disguise themselves as tailors and head to the royal palace to teach the Empress a lesson! They have no trouble convincing her to purchase a wondrous new set of clothing that will surely astonish everyone. When the Empress hosts a grand Ball to celebrate her new outfit, her true colors are revealed! This original ballet, set to music by Mozart, includes a colorful cast of Court Ladies, Mirror Holders, Seamstresses, Milliners, Shoe Makers, Musicians and Villagers. Audience members of all ages will be delighted by artful choreography, elaborate costumes and the humorous antics of the Empress! Featuring choreography by Sarah Najera, Gina Sigismondi and Caroline TeDesco.
