Saturday, December 31 from 1:30 - 3:30, come out to the main Oak Park Library, 834 Lake St., and usher in the New Year with a Free, family-friendly magic show.  Dennis Debondt, The Sears Tower of Magic is performing.  He's been called the best magician for family fun.  Details at www.oppl.org .

Another fun, family event, A Wonder Works New Year, at the Wonder Works Children's Museum, 6445 W. North Ave. in Oak Park will be a fun adventure.  Visit on December 31 from Noon - 5pm.  There'll be "countdowns" at 1pm, 2:30pm, and 4pm.  Noisemakes, party hats, a "resolution chain" too, as well as music, crafts, games, and snacks.  No reservations are required.  More info at www.wonder-works.org .

A little pricier, but a real "family memory" will be had if you "Ring in 2012" at nearby Brookfield Zoo.  Their Holiday Magic Celebration runs December 30 from 4 - 9pm and there'll be a "Zoo New Year's Eve" on Saturday, December 31.  Come for music, games, prizes, crafts and more.  Pricing details and more info at www.czs.org or call 708-688-8000.
