Kicking-off this year's Unity Temple Concert Series is the wonderful "Patricia Barber".  Enjoy her attached clip and then see the show on Saturday, October 6 at 7:30pm in Frank Lloyd Wright's masterpiece, Unity Temple at 875 Lake St. in Oak Park.  She's described as a "top-flight" vocalist and pianist.  Get your tickets at the door or go to www.utconcerts.com .

On Sundays beginning 10/7 and throughout October, come see the "2012 GLBT Documentary Film Festival" at the main Oak Park Library at 2pm.  These are all award-winning docs and discussion will follow the screenings.  For more details, see www.oppl.org .  Free Event.

Maybe you want to take the train into the big city for either of the two major events coming this weekend.  On Sunday, 10/7 it's the world-reknowed "Chicago Marathon, 2012".  Come and cheer the competitors.  The run starts and ends in Grant Park near Buckingham Fountain.  You can find the neighborhood routes at the site www.chicagomarathon.com .

And, on Monday, October 7, with the kids off school, consider a trip downtown to see the annual "Columbus Day Parade" which steps-off on Columbus Drive at Balbo and Monroe.
